The Situation
The London jewellery brand had four years of trading, strong product photography, and enough domain history to rank first for its own brand name without trying. Almost none of that translated into sales-driving traffic.
The brand was competing for attention against popular high street budget brands, in a market where most jewellery purchases start with an occasion, not a product spec. Being absent from those searches wasn't a visibility problem. It was a revenue problem sitting one click away from a competitor.
The Challenge
The site had been built to describe the jewellery, not the reason someone was buying it. Category and product pages were basically inventory lists: metal, karat, chain length, etc. It did nothing to address its' customers queries like "what do I buy for a 10 year anniversary" or "bridesmaid gift under £150."
There was no product or offer schema for search engines to read cleanly, and nobody had ever checked whether LLMs or AI Overviews mentioned the brand when asked to recommend a gift. They didn't, not once, across ten tracked gift scenarios. Fixing the copy alone wouldn't have closed that gap.
What we did
Site Audit
We ran a full technical and content audit across the store, identifying page speed issues that were quietly limiting how deep Google crawled the catalogue, along with missing structured data on nearly every product page.
Keyword Mapping
We mapped the actual gifting language buyers use, anniversaries, push presents, bridesmaid thank you gifts, rather than the material and spec terms the site had been organised around, and scored each occasion by search volume and average order value.
Content Build
We rebuilt category and product pages answer-first around occasions, and built a set of dedicated gifting guides targeting the highest-value scenarios first.
On-Page SEO
Product, Offer, and Review schema went live across the catalogue, and we set up a monthly check across ChatGPT, AI Overviews, and Perplexity against the ten gift scenarios the baseline audit had flagged as invisible.
The Results
Increase in organic revenue, from roughly £18,400 to £57,100 a month
Increase in organic sessions, from 8,200 to 22,600 a month
AI gift-recommendation queries now naming the brand, up from zero
Occasion keywords moved from no first-page presence to ranking in the top 10, nine of them in the top 3
What We Learnt
Jewellery SEO in a market this crowded is rarely won on product pages alone. The gap between a brand that converts and one that just gets browsed is almost always about matching the page to the reason someone is buying, not the specification of what they're buying.
AI tools recommend a brand by occasion the same way a knowledgeable shop assistant would. A catalogue organised around metal and karat has nothing to hand them. One organised around what their customer needs does.
